In just a few days I'll be taking a cruise to the Caribbean islands, and being the foodie that I am, the only thing I've really been thinking about is all the delicious food I'm planning on eating. If you think about it, it's kind of ridiculous how obsessed we women get with slimming down before vacation. Because once we're there, all we want to do is stuff our faces with food and piña coladas. But what's the point of hitting the gym three to four days a week now, if I'm just going to come back from my vacay 10 pounds fatter? Ugh!

Believe it or not, you can still enjoy the food without gaining the weight, that is if you have the willpower to not go overboard. It's all about coming up with a plan to help you indulge in moderation. Check out a few of my tips below that will allow you to satisfy your taste buds and zip up your pants!
Choose wisely: Hey there's nothing wrong with indulging in a few calorie-heavy cocktails. After all you are on vacation, right? But if you're enjoying a piña colada or frozen margarita, just have one or two tops and then go for a lighter choice, like a vodka and soda water drink.
Keep a balance: If you're going to have a heavy breakfast, choose a lighter meal for lunch. But don't deprive yourself of a delicious dinner either. Just be aware of your portions. If you're served a large plate of food, eat half of it and pack up the rest for lunch tomorrow.
Chill with the alcohol: Like I mentioned before, certain alcoholic beverages contain loads of calories. So if you're going to drink, choose a time and stick to it. If you're doing a day-time happy hour, then lay low on the cocktails later that night.
Pack snacks: Why stack on pounds with gross airplane and airport food? It's overpriced anyway! Instead carry on some healthy snacks like nuts, celery, and fruits to enjoy while you're traveling to your vacation destination and back.
Sneak in some workout time: Now, no one is saying you have to hit the gym hard when you're on vacation (even though you can if you want to). But why not incorporate a little physical activity into your days? If you're sightseeing, try walking if you can, instead of using cabs or other forms of transportation. A few outdoorsy activities like bike riding, rock climbing, or swimming aren't just fun but also pretty good at burning calories!
