I'm usually not one to encourage stress-eating, because it usually leads us to reach for high-calorie and super fattening foods. But the next time you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, eating might just be your key to calmness. Of course I'm not talking about stuffing your face with junk food like pollo frito or French fries!

I'm referring to healthy super foods that won't just help you beat the blues, but will also help you lose some weight.

Think about it, when you're stressed you're very likely to experience an increase in appetite that can lead to poor eating and stress-induced weight gain. Low levels of folic acid have been linked to depression and anxiety. Luckily, asparagus is packed with this mood-enhancing nutrient that can help you get right back on track. Try adding some grilled asparagus spears as a side dish to your meat.

Feelings of anxiety can be connected to low levels of vitamin B which are found in avocados that are also filled with potassium and monounsaturated fats that can help lower blood pressure. Add some to your salads or sandwiches,  or include as a side dish to your meals. When it comes to eating avocados you definitely don’t have to tell me twice!
