I grew up as an overweight child, so I know how difficult it may be for a kid to lose weight. That's why I am so incredibly inspired and impressed by Breanna Bond who found herself weighing 186 pounds and unhappy. Luckily for her, though, her parents decided to bond together as a family to help the 9-year-old fifth grader lose 66 pounds in less than a year.
If you've ever worried about the childhood obesity problem (as I often do), then you might be very inspired by the story of this little girl and how her parents helped her lose weight.

Being a 9-year-old at almost 200 pounds must be terrible. In the video, below, Breanna describes the way that everyone at school would call her "fatty" and "fat head." But then her parents decided to take charge. Her father, Dan Bond, talks about using some "tough love" to get her to lose weight while mom Heidi explains that they had her tested (for things like thyroid issues and diabetes) until they "knew at that point we had to step things up."
That's when her mom designed an exercise routine for the whole family (they began to walk a 4-mile trail near their home) and changed the family's diet to having no more than 20 grams of fat per day and as little sugar as possible.

The impressive thing is that mom Heidi really helped to push her daughter to continue in her weight loss. The family had a "zero-tolerance policy" when it came to their nightly walk, going at night, in the rail, in the hail, no matter what.
According to ABC News, Breanna continued her weight loss by using the home treadmill for an hour and 15 minutes a day, playing basketball and joining the swim team at school. Now she's feeling much better and says that the best part of her weight loss is that "I can be involved in sports and I can kepe up with my friends when we're playing." I mean, that's DEFINITELY a great reason for kids to lose weight!
I'm really inspired by her spirit and her parents determination to help her lose weight. As her mom says: "all children who are having weight issues across America, you can do it with a pair of tennis shoes and motivation."
