The world's oldest living person, Besse Cooper, has just celebrated her 116th birthday.__
According to the Guinness World Records, the woman from Monroe, Georgia, is only the eighth person in the world (and the fourth American) to ever reach that age. That's a pretty huge accomplishment for the woman whose husband died in 1963 at the age of 68 (oh my god, that's when my dad was born!) and is now a happy abuelita to 12, a great-grandmother of 15 and even a great-great-grandmother to one. So what does she have to say about her old age? Well, she's actually got some GREAT advice on how to live longer!

What's her take on why she's lived to such a ripe old age? Her two pearls of wisdom: "I mind my own business and I don't eat junk food," she told The Walton Tribune (via the New York Daily News).
Pretty genius, don't you think? Though, I have to be honest… there is absolutely no way that I could ever follow her first piece of advice. I mean, what Latina could?! I know it's a total stereotype but I know that "minding my own business" is simply NOT in my DNA. I try not to butt my nose into too many other people's lives but, when it comes to my family, all bets are off! I have to know everything that's going on, and they do the same with me!

As for her second piece of advice, I think that one is by far the most important. Maybe gossiping isn't the best thing for your body but I know for SURE that not eating junk food is one of the healthiest things you can do. I mean, this woman lived to be 116 years old without eating any processed foods. That sounds like a pretty good plan for longevity, doesn't it? I know that I'll definitely be taking this abuelita's advice and cutting the junk for good! Maybe not the "mind your own business" but, though.
