Declutter your bathroom
I live in an apartment and I share one bathroom with my two daughters and we have lots of things. I always make sure the counter top is clear because it’s easier to clean mold and wipe when you only have to move a few things out of the way.
Beds ready!
Make sure you make the beds before you leave your home so things don’t pile up on top of it or on the floor. Clear beds are an instant motivator to keep things organized and clean. Get your kids into that habit early!
Mail basket
Paper these days can get out of hand. If you are not careful, you’ll be drowning in no time. Check the mail every day and toss what you don’t need. Keep the important stuff in a basket so you can go over it at the end of the week.
Laundry hamper
There's nothing more depressing and stressful than an overflowing hamper. My girls change constantly and they always put the barely-worn-clothes in the hamper. To avoid this problem, buy one hamper with a lid and wash clothes once a week.
Cook & clean
You are already in the kitchen, so make sure you clean something before you grab another pot. Don’t accumulate dirty dishes because it will get out of control real quick. If you have a dishwasher, wait until is full to run it so you have to do less hand washing.
Eat & wipe
This is a real time saver! Make sure you wipe every surface after you use it. This way you’ll always keep them clean and you won’t have to dedicate extra time wiping sauces and grime off the dinner table.
Sweep
If you don’t like to vacuum often, buy a broom and sweep under the dinner table, the kitchen and bathroom every day. This is a big one for me because I’m always dropping food while I cook and my girls leave crumbs and hairs behind all the time. You can vacuum once a week if you sweep!
Keep the mess contained
It’s hard because kids are always creating a mess as you are cleaning. Keep their mess in one room and don’t let them bring things out. It’s easier to organize when everything is in one place.
