Leftovers are a godsend for moms everywhere, especially when you haven't had the time to cook a fresh meal. Last night's pasta is probably welcomed by your kids even though your husband may prefer a steak this time around. To be honest, I actually prefer leftovers–depending on the meal–because it seems like the food has more time to absorb the flavors. I tend to prepare food for the first few days of the week on Sundays so I'm not stuck cooking every single night. It's stress free and one thing off my to-do list.
But not all meals are created equally which is why you need this guide to reheating leftovers. Not only is it good for you to know the proper way to do so, but it's for your own safety as well. The last thing you want to do is get sick!
Pasta: Reheat in a pan with a splash of olive oil because the microwave or oven can change the texture completely.
Soup: To get the best flavor you should always reheat soups over the stove because that's how it was originally made.
Rice: The good thing is you can reheat rice either on the stovetop or microwave. Make sure to add some water to the rice if you choose to heat it over the stove.
Pancakes: Good news: You can reheat pancakes in the microwave without a problem. Yay! For tomorrow's breakfast!
Beverages: Hot drinks such as tea and coffee will never have the same taste again after you reheat them. It's better to serve a fresh cup instead of reheating.
