One of the things I do regularly is get rid of stuff. Honestly, just do it. Be ruthless. If you haven't worn something in a year, GET RID OF IT! You can donate it to a thrift store or you can take your gently used items to a resale store to see if you can make a bit of money off of your down-sizing.

I have a plastic bin that I put anything that has not been worn by me in a long time or I just no longer want and when it fills up, off to be donated it goes. It doesn't matter how much I get rid of, there is always more to come, that's why I do it throughout the year as I come across items in my closet instead of just doing it once a year.

Once you've mastered the art of ruthlessly getting rid of what you don't need or wear, try these five DIY hacks to maximize your closet space.
