Selena Quintanilla's fans are in for a treat this spring. MAC Cosmetics and the late singer's family have announced the upcoming launch of a second capsule collection inspired by Selena and her love of makeup, and it is called Selena La Reina. Her big sister, Suzette Quintanilla, has been working with the company to release a new line for the past four years, and she says it's inspired by Latinas.

Suzette spoke to Refinery29 and shared some details that fans can expect from the new line that is launching in April, on the 25th anniversary of the Grammy winner's untimely death. The "Amor Prohibido" singer's first collection quickly sold out, and fans lined up outside the stores for days to get their hands on the products. Selena might be gone, but her legacy and her memory live on through the unyielding love and adoration of her many fans.
The collection was announced on Selena's Instagram page.
"Selena and @MACcosmetics are back together! Get ready for an all NEW collection launching in April to celebrate the Queen of Tejano’s life and legacy!" the post read. "Stay tuned for this iconic collection and head to maccosmetics.com to learn more #MACSelena."
MAC announced the new collection.
"The legend lives on. A NEW Selena Quintanilla collection arrives in select markets in April! Stay tuned for more glimpses of shades designed to honour the Queen of Tejano Music – like Lipglass in Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, back by popular demand. @selenaqofficial #MACSelena," the company revealed.
The family and the company have been working hand in hand.
Following the massive success of the first launch, Suzette continued working with the cosmetics company to do a second collection. "I am forever grateful to MAC for allowing me to bring my creative vision to life and to celebrate my sister's 25th Anniversary," Suzette is quoted on the collection's website. The company also said that the new products were created in collaboration with the singer's family and that the second Selena collection "honors the singer's life and eternal shine."
Suzette has been heavily involved in the process.
Suzette shared some of the details about how makeup was a big part of her and her little sister's lives. "If I was missing something, it was always in her makeup case," she told R29, adding that she has been working on this for two years. "I'm just extremely excited that I finally get to talk about this launch. For us Latinas, it's super hard to keep a secret!"
Suzette wants the collection to highlight the impact her sister had on Latinas.
The first collection was inspired by Selena's signature look, including red lipstick and beige blush, but this one is more to celebrate Selena and her love of being a Latina. "It's more of a celebration of her legacy. And it's a celebration of us as Latinas," Suzette said. "Selena has made an impact in the beauty space by representing Latinas. That's what makes me happy, that she represents so many of us. I don't want to make it a Latina thing, but it is."
Selena changed the world in a lot of ways, and in doing so, she represented so many Latinas who looked like her and made them feel seen. "Even though there were Latinas on TV, they had blonde hair and blue eyes. There was never that representation of who we were, with darker hair and being fuller on the hips," Suzette told the publication. "Fans want to celebrate her. They want the representation of not just her as an artist, but her as a Latina. MAC understands what Selena represents to the world and her fans. I loved working with them the first time, and I cannot wait to show the world what this new launch will be. I'm very proud that MAC can help us celebrate her on this very important year, which is 25 years later."
Fans are encouraged to sign up on the website to get exclusive updates.
"You asked, we listened! Our best-selling Selena collection finally has a sequel," the company announced on its website. "A limited-edition line-up celebrating 25 years of the Queen of Tejano Music’s legacy is coming soon. Sign up now, and be the first to know when it drops–it’s sure to be a sellout." The first collection was released in 2016 and was a sellout success. Thanks to the fans, it became one of the most sought-after collections in MAC’s history. Many people couldn't even get their hands on the products, so be sure to stay alert for this upcoming collab.
