Have you ever wondered why there aren't skincare products specifically for your vagina? Okay, before you admittedly dismiss that thought, hear me out for a second! With all the hair removing we do these days like Brazilian waxes, shaving and laser, it only makes sense to take care of the skin down there too, no? I have found myself using my regular body scrubs, facial serums and moisturizers to exfoliate and hydrate my V. So when I heard there was a new vaginal skincare line called The Perfect V, I was originally skeptical but also curious. After all, our lady parts need some loving!

I first heard about The Perfect V after reading an article about their so-called "vagina highlighter." I have to admit, I wasn't crazy about the idea. After all, I only started using highlighter on my face this year, so why in the world would I need to use one on my vag?
But after checking out the site, I noticed that they also offered other products like exfoliators, serums and creams for the V. I reached out to the company and was invited to an exclusive luncheon where the founder and CEO, Avonda Urben, would speak about the line. I had questions, so of course I made sure I was there.

Avonda summed it all up perfectly: Just like the rest of our body, the vagina also has skin and deserves just as much pampering, and that includes exfoliating (to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs), moisturizing, and all that great stuff you do for your face and bod. Seriously, how could anyone argue with that?
As someone who gets Brazilian waxes every single month and already exfoliates and hydrates down there, this line was exactly what I've been looking for.
While a lot of feminist writers argue that the line is anti-feminist and just pushes more unrealistic beauty standards on women, I completely disagree. No one, not even Avoda, is saying you need these products to be beautiful. On the contrary, the messaging is that you don't need to do anything to your vagina that you don't want to do, but if you happen to be into hair removal (which can be rough on your skin), here are a few products to help take care of it. That's all.

Is it anti-feminist to get a Brazilian wax? Is it anti-feminist to take care of your face or body? I think not. As for the name. Would you buy a cream or exfoliator that straight up says vaginal cream? I know I wouldn't. That sounds a bit too medical for me, like something I'd purchase if I had a yeast infection. The Perfect V is cute, to the point, and doesn't make me feel like I'm picking up a prescription for vaginal dryness.

"Well, women really don't have a name for it," Avoda told Allure. "Something modern, empowering, and straightforward." I can definitely agree with that.
The luncheon took place a day before my flight to Portugal, so I made sure to take all the products with me on the trip, since I was going to be spending a lot of my time rocking high-leg cut bikini bottoms on the beach. I used the VV Cream Gentle Exfoliator, the VV Cream Serum, the VV Cream Very Intensive Cream and the VV Very V Luminizer, which is not actually a highlighter by the way. It's literally just a body luminizer cream like the ones we buy for our bodies? It gave my bikini line a nice beachy shimmer that made me feel pretty darn flawless.

Say what you want, but The Perfect V is now officially part of my skincare routine and I'm absolutely NOT feeling apologetic about it.
