This GROSS pimple popping technique will leave you with beautiful skin

I know I shouldn't pick at my pimples, but I just can't help myself. What, am I supposed to just wait for the zit to just go away on its own? Pfft, I have zero patience or time for that. So I do what most of us ladies do: squeeze those little suckers into oblivion. However, doing so has left me with a sprinkling of acne scars that have now mixed in with my sun spots and freckles. Not fair, right? Well, if you ask Dr. Oz, I literally did it to myself. According to him, there's a much more effective means of getting rid of those ugly pink spots, and it won't literally scar you for life. Ay, hallelujah, right? Well, before you go celebrating I'm going to need you to brace yourself, chicas, because though the solution is effective, it ain't pretty.

giant pimple

__Using an ugly and disturbingly realistic model of a zit, Dr. Oz demonstrated his healthy technique for banishing blemishes on The Oprah Winfrey Show. One more warning: It. Was. Gross! Brandishing a giant needle, Dr. Oz explained the trick is to pierce the zit, not squeeze it. "Never squeeze a pimple, because when you squeeze a pimple, you macerate it," he explains, referring to a process that causes the skin to break down due to prolonged exposure to moisture. In other words: you're ruining your skin!

So, if you want to save face, you're going to have that little guy right in the white stuff! But before you go all poke happy, you should know there's a method to this madness. First, you're going to pierce the blemish parallel to the skin using a sterilized needle. Next, you're going to rip the needle out by pulling it upward! Yes, as in tearing the blemish in two, from the inside out. Dr. Oz assures this will be painless, since you're basically piercing dead skin. However, he warns, "if you're going deeper than this, it's going to be uncomfortable, so only hit the white part of the pimple." Duly noted.

According to the good doc, this method will not damage the healthy skin surrounding your blemish, and therefore should not leave behind any annoying scars. Well, in that case it couldn't hurt to at least try. After all, I've been squeezing my blemishes since I was in high school, and all I have to show for it is a graveyard of acne scars. I'm willing to give this crazy, kooky, blemish slaying method a try. Are you?
