Woman tired of unrealistic beauty standards does the unthinkable & it’s awesome

Let's face it–we live in a superficial world! And when it comes to appearances, us women definitely don't have it easy. In fact one confident plus-size chica from Los Angeles is sick and tired of Hollywood's obsession with perfection. So she decided to do something we'd probably NEVER do to prove that you don't need to look like a model to have a healthy self-esteem.

__Amani Terrel__l walked right through Hollywood Boulevard in nothing but a bikini–and let me tell you, she worked it! "There's this mass hysteria of perfection" in Hollywood, she said, that basically says thin equals beautiful. But the truth is, that mentality isn't limited just to Hollywood. It's become a world wide issue! Terrell decided to get creative and walk around Hollywood Boulevard in a skimpy bikini to show people that beauty really does come in different shapes and sizes, regardless of these ideals society tries to shove down our throats.

"You cannot seek validation from other people, this world is very cruel," she told FOX KTTV Los Angeles. "You must seek validation within yourself and be kind to yourself." You can say whatever you want about Terrell's creative demonstration, but the truth is the message she's trying to convey is a very important one especially to our youth today.

I was happy to see that most people reacted pretty positively towards Terrell's act, but of course there were a few jerks out there that threw her some nasty comments. One A-hole yelled he lost his appetite, while another called her "Precious." That's so mean! But Terrell didn't let it get to her, instead she responded simply by saying, "That was very unkind but that's cool because I love myself."

It also bothers her that people assume overweight women lack confidence. "There's a misconception that big women have low self-esteem, I don't have low self-esteem," she said. "I'm 260 pounds. I know I do need to lose the weight. However, I still love myself regardless."

I absolutely LOVE this woman! I think it takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there like that, especially knowing how cruel people can be when it comes to appearances. She might be overweight, but she loves herself regardless and that's definitely something to admire!
