I have to admit, I have a pretty crazy shoe collection. And even though I don't even use half of them, I refuse to throw a single pair out. The large jumble of shoes (especially tacones) at the floor of my closet has gotten so out of control I can barely get out of there alive. Struggling with the same shoe clutter? Don't worry! Luckily, there are ways to organize your footwear that will help maximize space. Check out a few of my shoe storage ideas below!

Add a low cubby cabinet
Remember those cute cubbies your kids had to use back in kindergarten? Well they work wonders on your shoes. Look for one that contains a number of compartments to fit several pairs of your shoes. You can find an affordable one at shops like IKEA or the Container store.
Try a shoe rack
Find an empty space on the floor and neatly line up your footwear on a shoe rack. You can even add to the floor of your closet if there’s enough room. If you want to be a little more creative, use an old unused wine rack instead.
Use a door-mounted shoe rack
So maybe you’re not a 100 percent comfortable with having your shoes out on display. No problem! Try a shoe rack you can mount behind a closet door instead. It saves space and keeps things neater.
Use book shelves
There’s nothing unique about this idea, but it’s definitely a neat way to organize and display your shoes. It will also help keep them in top notch shape.
Create a shoe library
A great way to protect your shoes in by placing them in see-through shoe boxes and then stacking them on shelves or even in cabinets. If the idea of buying a ton of clear containers seems a little pricey for you, try keeping your shoes in their original shoe boxes instead. Just add a label with a picture of the shoe to each so you know what’s in every box.
Consider display ledges
Hang your favorite and prettiest heels up on a free wall with display wedges (the same ones use to hang art or photos) for super easy access. This will help free up your closet space and separate your delicate, party shoes from your regular shoes.
