Save or splurge? Cleansing brushes that really work

I'm not the kind of girl that leaves the house every day decked out in makeup. In fact, there are many times when I'd prefer to sport a completely bare face. For that reason, I like to keep my skin as clear, healthy, and radiant as possible. When it comes to good skin, it's not just what you put on it, it's how well you clean it.

There's been a lot of buzz lately on cleansing brushes and how they supposedly do a much better job at removing dirt and oils from your face then a cleanser alone. So I decided to test out the highly raved about Clarisonic Aria Sonic Skin Cleansing Brush which retails at $200 against the inexpensive Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System which cost only $30. What was my verdict? Read on to find out!

The Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System included a nifty price tag you really can't beat. But I have to admit, just like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. For starters, the 2 speed rotating brush never felt secure to me. And while it did do a good job at removing makeup and dirt from my face, after a month of using it I honestly didn't see a big difference in my skin. In fact, after every use it left my skin kind of irritated and blotchy. I really didn't receive the results I was looking for.

The Clarisonic, on the other hand, definitely left me impressed. For one, it includes 3 speeds (high, medium, and low) so you can choose which one is right for you, along with a 1- to 2- minute timer that's perfect for women like me that can easily overdo it. It deeply cleansed, but at the same time was still gentle enough to not irritate my ultra-sensitive skin.  That means no blotches! After just one use, my skin instantly felt cleaner, smoother, and even firmer. It looked polished and radiant, as if I had just had a facial. I'm totally sold on this product. Everything this cleansing brush claims to do, it really does. It might cost you a bit, but believe me it's worth every penny!
