8 Latinas shine and sparkle on the Met Gala red carpet

Last night was the ultimate red carpet event in New York City–the Met Gala–and the stars were out in full gown. The event's unspoken rule is that you can go all out, prompting some crazy outfits over the years (this year's outrageous outfit award goes to Marc Jacobs, who wore a black lace see-through dress over white boxers). But it was the Latinas who really stole the show this year. I don't know if they got together ahead of time or what, but one very clear fashion trend emerged last night: everything shiny and sparkly! From Jessica Alba rocking a gold dress to Cameron Diaz in a sparkly silver to Eva Mendes rocking some jewels on her dress, these are the 8 Latinas you need to see.

Michael Kors

The gold dress and the hair are perfection, though not quite ideal together. She should have worn it up and shown off that other shoulder instead.

Stella McCartney

She's looking quite happy (and sparkly!) after crying over her new short hair. The simple yet elegant dress works wonders for her curves.

Prada

She was the only Latina to wear a bright pop of color and I'm glad for it. The dress was unusual but the sparkles on the chest gave it great personality.

Givenchy

Showing up with husband Tom Brady, who also looking like a million bucks, the Brazilian supermodel has never made black look so darn good.

Marchesa

The dress is gorgeous but Sofia's got me a little tired with wearing the same silhouette over and over again. I hope next year she'll try something different.

Calvin Klein

Looking bold in a simple shimmery black dress, the only thing that the actress and Voto Latino co-founder was missing was some bright statement jewelry.

Ralph Lauren

Nobody ever said that Camilla was afraid to bare all. Here she really shows off almost everything in this beautiful clevage-baring silver dress.

Zac Posen

The Puerto Rican wife of basketball star (and New York Knicks small forward) Carmelo Anthony wore one of the only solid colors of the night in this trendy cobalt blue.
