The latest in Daddy Yankee & Mireddys González’s divorce and legal drama,

The Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González drama is definitely heating up after he announced their divorce in December 2024. Although the Puerto Rican rapper (born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez) and his former manager were married for nearly 30 years, they are now embroiled in a legal battle. And things are only heating up.

Daddy Yankee and Mireddys were high school sweethearts who married in 1995. Since then, they have welcomed two children, a daughter named Jesaaelys and a son named Jeremy. (The reggaetón artist also has a daughter, Yamilet, from a previous relationship.) Additionally, Mireddys helped manage Daddy Yankee’s companies, El Cartel Records and Los Cangris.

On December 2, Daddy Yankee revealed via his Instagram Story that he and Mireddys were divorcing.

“After more than two decades of marriage and after many months of trying to save my marriage, today my lawyers respond to the divorce petition received by Mireddys,” he wrote in Spanish.

The rapper continued, “My faith in Christ has been my refuge at all times, and was a constant guide as we attempted to overcome our differences. I respect Mireddys’ decision and I am grateful for the time we shared, full of blessings and values, love and with a beautiful family that will continue to be our priority.”

Not long after the divorce news, Daddy Yankee filed a legal motion against Mireddys (allegedly the CEO) and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos (allegedly the secretary/treasurer). In the December 12 filing, the rapper alleged that his estranged wife withdrew $80 million “without authorization” from his El Cartel Records bank account, according to documents obtained by Billboard. He also claimed she took $20 million from his other company, Los Cangris.

They reached a partial agreement on December 20.

On December 20, Daddy Yankee and the plaintiffs reached a partial agreement during a court hearing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He took back the presidency of both companies, per the agreement, and $75 million will remain in both companies for 30 days, Billboard reported. Additional funds would be placed in escrow and approval from both parties for transactions over $100,000 would be required.

Jesaaelys spoke out on social media in late December.

On December 28, Jesaaelys — who accompanied her mom to the December 20 hearing — commented on her parents’ legal and divorce drama with a video posted on Instagram.

“It hasn’t been easy days or the best Christmas,” she said. “Everyone talks as if they understand when, in reality, they only know a twisted version of events.”

Jesaaelys added, “It has been a challenging week … witnessing the true nature of people and what they are capable of … I am aware of my own heart, and I know the truth. That’s what allows me to sleep soundly at night.”

Mireddys has denied being in charge of finances.

Mireddys has denied being in charge of finances for El Cartel Records and Los Cangris. Instead, her lawyers claimed Daddy Yankee managed the money. Mireddys also accused Daddy Yankee of “harassment” after the defense failed to provide requested documents.

Interestingly, she hired El Chapo's lawyer.

On January 10, The Latin Times reported that Mireddys hired Mariel Colón, the former lawyer of Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The news came after Mireddys and her sister’s defense team resigned. Colón and Roberto Alonso Santiago are now representing them.

Mireddys addressed the media on January 14.

On her way to a January 14 hearing, Mireddys briefly spoke to the media.

“I can’t say much,” she said, per Primera Hora. “What I can say is that in the right time I’ll have the opportunity to talk from the other side of history and make many things clear.”

As he left the court following the hearing, Daddy Yankee also spoke with the press, Hola! reported. The singer explained that his son, Jeremy, didn’t join him because he “told him not to.”

“It’s the first time,” Daddy Yankee said in Spanish. “He insisted and wanted to but I told him he didn’t have to.”

He also offered insight into how the drama with Mireddys has affected his relationship with Jesaaelys.

“The relationship is a little damaged but she’s my queen. I saw her coming in and I told her, ‘God bless you, you’re my queen.’ She always will be,” he said, per Hola! “I know this is gonna bring us closer step by step. We’re a family like all of them, there are ups and downs, but we’re gonna get over this.”
