Despite their small size, nuts are some of the most nutritious little treats nature has given us. In just a handful, nuts can provide our body with healthy fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and fiber. But like everything else, moderation is key. They are rich in Niacin, which gives it the power to shield our brain from cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's disease or dementia. Brazil nuts and pecans are very good for men's prostate health. Brazil nuts are filled with Selenium, which protects against prostate cancer. Some of the trail mix nut packs contain chocolate candies, chocolate chips and yogurt covered sugar coated raisins. These are incredibly bad for you and can skyrocket the caloric amount while lowering the available nutrition.

Nuts hidden inside creamy chocolate or toffee doesn't make it healthy. While shopping, make sure to check the ingredient list. You don't want any additives like sugar or butter. While wanting to experience the benefits of nuts, you don't want to load up on unhealthy fats and carbohydrates.

Flavored or boiled nuts

These are loaded with sodium. Boiled nuts are usually soaked and bathed in salt-water which can be a problem for those suffering from blood pressure. High sodium foods are not good for your heart, and should be avoided as much as possible. It is best to stick with raw and fresh nuts.
