As most parents will tell you, it's pretty much impossible to sleep in when you have young kids as they're sure to barge into your room the minute they wake up, ready to start the day! But when an already sleep-deprived Washington couple recently found themselves awake way too late one recent night, they decided it was time to take drastic measures.
In an effort to get their kids to give them a few extra precious, uninterrupted hours of shut-eye, Samantha Manville and her husband left them this HILARIOUS note on their bedroom door. And from what they wrote, it's very clear they were desperate for sleep.

After staying up until 2 a.m. on a rare late Friday night, Manville says she and her husband couldn't bear the thought of getting up at 7 a.m., the time that their kids, 10-year-old Alexia and 8-year-old Liam, usually wake up. So they came up with the above note, which leaves with specific instructions for the kids (including "do not knock and wake up before 10 a.m. unless there is a real EMERGENCY!") and preemptive answers to any questions they might have ("Yes, you can watch TV / play Wii," "No, you may not go to your friends house"). Haha!
So did it work?! "I looked at the clock when I woke up and it was 10:06," Manville told ABC News. "We made it." Still, she insists they're not going to make the note a habit, saying, "It was a one-time thing and we got away with it." OK, what parent can't relate to this?! Sometimes you just NEED that extra hour of sleep.
Personally, I think this note is a great idea! After all, in this case, the kids were old enough where they could entertain themselves for a while without supervision. And that way, mom and dad get to catch up on their sleep. Everybody wins! Plus, clearly they are doing a great job at raising their children, as both kids followed the instructions…at least, this one time.
