You know that an important part of your journey to good health is exercise. But I realize a lot of women don't enjoy going to the gym or walking on a treadmill every day. So in today's blog I'm going to tell you a way I found to get a good workout and still have fun.

Even I get tired of the same old exercise routines. At one time when I was looking for a change of pace; I found a postcard on my car announcing a Zumba class. It looked like fun so I gave it a try. I discovered not only was it fun; but it was also an excellent calorie burning workout.
Zumba basically combines Latin music and dance into amazing exercises. It uses dance moves from Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Flamenco and several others into a high energy and fun aerobic workout. Even if you're new to exercise; you can enjoy and benefit from a Zumba class.
After that first class, I was hooked. What's not to like? Latin music, everyone having fun, dancing, and burning calories! You might be asking, "I know it's fun. But how does it help with my weight loss goals?"
During an hour long session you can expect to burn 300 to 600 calories. Though it's fun, you're also getting a high energy aerobic workout that is burning off the calories. Combined with a healthy diet; Zumba can help you achieve your weight loss goals.
Zumba will also help increase your energy level and kick your metabolism into high gear. Plus, it's a lot easier to want to attend a class that's actually FUN.
Don't want to attend class alone? Talk a friend into going along with you. You'll keep each other committed to showing up each week. No last minute, "I'm too tired tonight, I think I'll just skip it and watch TV." You'll know your friend is expecting you to be there so you MUST show up.
But if you don't have a friend to go with, try it anyway. It's a great way to meet new people and make new friends.
You can also find Zumba classes designed for specific needs such as a Zumba Gold class that's designed for older adults or Zumbatomic for kids ages four to twelve.
Not sure if you want to commit? Some places offer trial classes where you can attend one or two classes and see what you think before you invest any money. If you can't find a local class consider buying a DVD and do a little Zumba in your own living room. No special equipment is needed so this is a low cost way to get a powerful workout.
Remember, with Zumba, not only will you have a blast dancing to Latin music; but you'll be burning calories and losing weight.]
