Amika Power Cloud Repair + Smooth Dryer
Hair type: Long thick, medium curly hair
Review: "I have long, thick medium curly hair but it’s become finer and looser due to constant heat-styling. As a result, it’s important for me to find a dryer that’s strong enough to fight frizz and features multiple heat settings that won’t fry my already fragile hair. This dryter does that and also has the option of positive or negative ion technology, which helps boost volume and leaves my hair feeling silky, smooth for days,” –Johanna Ferreira, Staff Writer, Amika Power Cloud Repair + Smooth Dryer ($150)
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
Hair type: Fine and wavy.
Review: "I found that the blow-dryer cut my drying time and was slightly more quiet, but I can’t justify the price point." – Sugey Palomares, Staff Writer, Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer ($400)
Harry Josh Pro Tools 2000 Pro Dryer
Hair type: Straight and fine.
Review: "This hairdryer is basically magic. When I first saw it, it seemed really small. I wasn’t sure how it was going to be powerful, but when I turned it on, it blew me away, no pun intended! So powerful, so fast, and there’s something about the weight and the feel that makes it so manageable and easy to work with. I absolutely loved it. " – Yuliana Gomez, Managing Editor, Harry Josh Pro Tools 2000 Pro Dryer ($300)
Sally Beauty Magnesium PRO 1800W Hair Dryer

Review: "It really did do so many of the things promised! It was FAST—dried my hair in about half the time. Plus it left my hair super shiny and soft—a definite plus! " – Yuliana Gomez, Managing Editor, Sally Beauty Magnesium PRO 1800W Hair Dryer ($80)
Moroccanoil MO2000 Professional Series Tourmaline Ceramic Hair Dryer
Hair type: Long thick, medium curly hair
Review: "Not only does this powerful dryer leave my hair smooth, shiny and frizz-free but it dries hair in the half the time it would normally take me do to it’s low electromagnetic field feature." – Johanna Ferreira, Staff Writer, Moroccanoil MO2000 Professional Series Tourmaline Ceramic Hair Dryer ($240)
Pro Beauty Tools 1875 Ionic AC Motor Dryer
Hair type: Fine and straight
Review: "At just below $40, the Pro Beauty Tools hair dryer is ok value. Compared to other blow dryers at similar price points, this particular tool had what I consider two significant handicaps. First, even though I can appreciate the fact that it has a cold shot button, for some reason it's more sensitive to the touch than I'd like to the point I found myself pushing it by mistake when I was drying my hair. Second, the electrical cord is shorter than others I've used, an issue if you find the outlet and nearest mirror at a greater distance than desirable. On the plus side, this dryer is not too heavy, particularly considering its large size, and it doesnt get too hot thus resulting in less damage to my tresses.
