We don't have a dishwasher, which means someone has to hand wash everything. I don't know about you, but I'm not that eager to spend any more time than I have to washing dishes. I'd rather wash less if at all possible, but at the same time I don't want a sink full of dirty dishes because that makes the entire kitchen look like a disaster. I've found simpe ways to cut down on dirty dishes without resorting to using disposable plates or eating out every day.

Here are four genius ways to cut down on dirty dishes:
1. Use the same water glass all day. Everyone in my family has a designated water glass that is to be used all day. I use a fancy stemless wine glass that makes me feel like royalty. Everyone's glass is different so we can tell them apart and avoid confusion. You would not believe how much this cuts down on how many glasses have to be washed each day.
2. One pot meals are a golden. If you cook everything in one pot, guess what? You only have one pot to wash. Cue the sound of angels singing. We've got tons of one pot recipes for you here at MamásLatinas.
3. Less means less. If you have 50 dishes, chances are you can get up to 50 dishes dirty before anything gets washed, but if you only have 10, well then only 10 can get dirty at a time before someone is forced to wash something in order to use it again. It's like when you are in college and instead of doing laundry you keep buying new underwear. That does not solve your laundry problem.
4. Use as little silverware as possible. My kids are little still so I have to cut up their food for them anyway, but lets say you are having a dinner party or get-together, if you make everything bite-size then no one needs a knife. Genius, right? Think chicken fajitas as opposed to a whole chicken or chicken breasts as an entree.
