Normally, wedding days are all about the bride and groom. But during Amber Brunell and Josh Fox's ceremony last week, all eyes were on their 1-month-old baby boy, Lucas. Why? The new parents actually got married in the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital, so that their sick little infant could witness his parents' nuptials. Aww!
The couple got engaged six months in their almost three-year relationship and never thought they'd be getting married in a hospital. But when Lucas experienced some serious complications after 23-year-old Brunell gave birth to him in mid-February, things changed. Eager to get married but determined to include their child in their big day, the mom and dad formed a plan.

The problems started before Lucas' arrival, when an ultrasound revealed possible concerns. After he was born, he began showing signs of an abdominal issue and was transferred to the NICU to undergo surgery. In the 24 hours that followed the procedure, the little boy began experiencing problems with his lungs and doctors had to extend his treatment.
Still, Brunell and Fox weren't about to leave their child out of their big day. Instead of having the conventional wedding they were planning, they decided to bring the ceremony to Lucas instead. The couple got married, standing right next to their little guy in the hospital. So sweet!
I think any parent would want to have their child present at their big day and think it's awesome that Brunell and Fox were able to figure out a way to make it happen. I'm sure having their little boy there only made the entire occasion even more special. Hopefully, Lucas will make a speedy recovery so that the family can go on to make more great memories together. Congrats to the happy couple!
