We don't meet geniuses everyday, do we? Those I look up to most are young people who prove to be wise beyond their years, and this time Mensa found their youngest member. A 3-year-old girl named Alexis Martin has joined the ranks of others before her in the Arizona chapter.
So just how brilliant is this toddler? Lets just say she's taught herself how to read and a second language. Impressive, huh?

Martin's parents said they knew that their daughter was special when at the age of 1, she memorized all the bedtime stories they would read her and was able to recite them by heart. In fact her dad, Ian, says she can pick up any word quickly and use it in the right context.
It's no surprise that the 3-year-old now reads at a fifth grade level and even taught herself to speak Spanish using her parents iPad! She can also name and locate states on the map with their capitals. Martin is the youngest member to join Mensa and tested with an 160 IQ, that is the equivalent to famous brainiacs such as Albert Einstein.
Naturally this raises the question about sending the child to school early, but her parents are hesitant. They want to make sure that their daughter will be able to properly socialize and get the education she needs.
I can't blame her folks for wanting to think their daughter's educational future through. If she is thrown into an advanced class at school, she might end up feeling slightly out of place if the all the other kids are older than her. It's amazing to me how at such a young age she's been able to learn and teach herself things that most adults can't even achieve! I hope she uses her intelligence for the greater good in the future!
