Jennifer Garner & Alex Rodriguez break silence amid Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez’s divorce

Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20. With the world still reeling from the news, fans have been interested in seeing reactions from Ben and Jen's exes. And Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Gardner recently broke their silence.

The Argo actor was married to Garner from 2005 to 2018. During their marriage, they welcomed three children: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. J.Lo, meanwhile, started dating A-Rod in 2017, got engaged to him in 2019, and broke up in 2021.

A-Rod posted a cryptic message the same day J.Lo filed for divorce from Ben.

On August 20, Alex shared a cryptic message on his Instagram Story. The quote read, "You either go one way or the other, you might as well be the one deciding the direction." However, a source told People that A-Rod's post "has nothing to do" with Jennifer and Ben's breakup.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Garner posted to Instagram the same day.

Also on August 20, Jennifer Garner shared an update via Instagram. The 13 Going on 30 actress posted a video of her reading a children's book with her dog lying beside her. "In case you have a little one at home. ♥️ The Eyebrows of Doom by Steve Smallman, illustrated by Miguel Ordóñez. #BooksWithBirdie," she captioned the update.

In May, when J.Lo and Ben breakup reports first started, a source close to the situation offered insight into Jennifer Garner's thoughts. The Juno actress reportedly "[wanted] the best" for her ex, People reported. "She wants him happy and healthy so he can be the best dad possible."

She also loved that J.Lo supported Ben's sobriety.

In May Garner also reportedly appreciated the positive influence J.Lo had in Ben's life. The mom of three "likes" that Lopez "lives a healthy lifestyle and supports Ben’s sobriety." The source added to People, "Jen wants that for Ben."

Lopez and Ben reportedly didn't have a prenup.

J.Lo filed divorce papers at Los Angeles Superior Court, alone and without an attorney, on August 20. In the filing, Jennifer did not mention a prenuptial agreement in the paperwork. However, an insider told TMZ that Ben and Jen did not have a prenup.

The timing of the divorce filing was a 'big f--- you' to Ben.

Although the date of separation in J.Lo's divorce filing was April 26, 2024, J.Lo waited until August 20 to officially make the move to divorce Ben. The date is meaningful, as it was the two-year anniversary of her and Ben's extravagant wedding in Georgia. “The timing of the divorce was a big f— you to Ben,” an insider told Us Weekly.
