Imagine finding out that your boyfriend cheated on you via pictures and video shared on social media! That seems to be exactly what happened to Argentine singer-songwriter Nicki Nicole when fans shared images of her boyfriend, Mexican artist Peso Pluma, holding hands and having a good old time in Las Vegas on February 11 with someone who wasn’t her! What a punch in the gut considering Nicki Nicole seemingly had no idea that she and the recent Grammy winner were no longer an exclusive romantic item.

She was literally with him a week earlier on February 4 when he won his first Grammy. In fact, they walked the red carpet together and looked very into each other. Then just one week later, he’s holding hands with another woman in Las Vegas!? And it’s not like he was trying to be discreet about it either, which is why it was all caught on camera and shared on social media. Here are the dirty details so far.
How did the cheating rumors start?
Take all of this with a grain of salt because Peso Pluma, born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, hasn’t confirmed any of it. But, he was at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas on February 11. Afterward, he was seen and recorded holding hands with a woman who is not Nicki Nicole.
Holding hands with another woman when you have a girlfriend is kind of sketchy.
And he didn’t just hold hands with this unknown woman, the two were clearly enjoying each other’s company and laughing it up. I mean, laughing isn’t the same as cheating, but it certainly made fans suspicious.
And where was Nicki when all of this was happening?
She was in Costa Rica for a performance. She was one of the performers at the Picnic en Costa Rica Festival on February 10. While there, she posted on Instagram to share a bit of the experience with fans.
Was she aware that Peso Pluma was hanging out with another woman in Las Vegas?
Apparently not, because once she became aware of the images of Peso Pluma holding hands and laughing with another woman, internet sleuths noticed that all the pictures she had posted of Peso Pluma on her IG profile disappeared.
Then she posted a statement that appears to confirm she was cheated on.
The statement written in Spanish posted to her Stories on February 13 and roughly translates to:
“Respect is a necessary part of love. What is loved, is respected. What is respected, is cared for. When you are not cared for and when there is no respect… I will not stay there. I’m leaving.”
“It is with great pain that I let you know I found out the same way you did, thank you for the love you are sending my way," she continued. Then she simply signed it "Nicki."
Sounds like a cheating confirmation and breakup announcement to me.
Maybe I’m assuming a little too much, but this sure as heck seems to be a response to fans about the cheating rumors. What else could it possibly be about? No, she didn’t name him or go into details, but come on! She said what she said.
Nicki and Peso Pluma went public with their romance in November 2023.
The artists met while working on a remix of Peso Pluma’s song “Por Las Noches.” They sparked romance rumor when they were seen together at Disneyland in July 2023, but it wasn’t until November 2023 that they confirmed they were dating with a public kiss onstage during a Nicki’s concert in Mexico City.
This all comes as a shock to fans because Peso Pluma was gushing about Nicki at the Grammys.
He told an interviewer that “the smartest” thing he has ever done was to have Nicki as a girlfriend. He also shouted her out in another interview and said, “I’m very happy to live my first Grammy with my beautiful girlfriend Nicki Nicole.”
What could have possibly changed in the span of one week?
He pretty much was telling anyone he could that he was just so happy to be at the Grammys with Nicki and then one week later, he does her dirty? Ugh, not gonna lie, I find it so ick.
