Taylor Swift sells 1 of her private jets amid threatening legal action against jet tracker

Taylor Swift is one busy woman. On top of breaking records, winning awards, and re-embarking on her wildly popular Eras Tour, the pop superstar recently announced her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. She has also attended 12 Kansas City Chiefs games this season to cheer on her tight end beau Travis Kelce. With so much going on, Taylor practically needs a fleet of private jets to fly her across the US (and the world).

Interestingly, the “Cruel Summer” songstress recently sold one of her private jets. And new information has surfaced about the identity of the buyer. Let’s take a closer look at who reportedly purchased one of Taylor’s aircrafts.

With so many overseas concerts and domestic NFL games and events to attend, it makes sense that Taylor would have a private jet or two to help streamline her travels. (Because let’s face it, showing up at an airport would cause all kinds of delays for fellow travelers in addition to posing a safety risk to Taylor.) The “Shake It Off” singer had two private jets — a Dassault Falcon 900 and the larger Dassault Falcon 7X — for quite some time, until she quietly sold one of them in January, Fox News reported.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Taylor sold her Dassault Falcon 900 jet on January 30. She reportedly purchased the jet for $40 million in 2011. However, it’s worth today is estimated at $7 million, the Daily Mail reported.

Who bought Taylor's private jet?

The new owner is listed as an LLC, Triangle Real Estate, which is incorporated in Missouri, per TMZ. The listed address is for a CarShield call center in St. Peters, Missouri. Coincidentally, a man named Nicholas Hamilton is both a former officer of Triangle Real Estate and the CEO of CarShield.

Previously, a social media account tracked Taylor's private jets.

A 21-year-old University of Central Florida student, Jack Sweeney, is in charge of social media accounts tracking celebrities and other prominent figures, including Taylor. In late 2023, an Instagram account dedicated to tracking Taylor’s two jets mysteriously disappeared. Now, we know why.

The pop star’s team sent cease and desist letters to Jack in December and in January, demanding he stop tracking and sharing her flight information. "While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client,” one of her lawyers, Katie Wright Morrone, wrote, per USA Today. “Ms. Swift has dealt with stalkers and other individuals who wish her harm.”

Selling the private jet also follows criticism over Taylor's carbon emissions.

Taylor's romance with Travis has only intensified the magnifying glass hovering over her every move. One persisting criticism, despite Taylor's positive influence on the economy and other realms, is the carbon footprint as a result of her private-jet travel.

As the Associated Press pointed out, the addition of Taylor's (presumed) flight from Tokyo, Japan, to Las Vegas, Nevada, so she can attend Super Bowl LVIII means her jet will travel more than 19,4000 miles in less than two weeks. This means her jet could release more than 200,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, estimated Gregory Keoleian, co-director of the Center for Sustainable Systems at the University of Michigan.
