If you are not trying to save money somehow, then I probably don't know you. I mean pretty much everyone I know, even those who are doing pretty well, are interested in stretching their money as far as possible. An area that is easy to focus on and easy to find a way to save is your kitchen.
The number one way to save money in the kitchen is to eat at home. Home cooking is a great way to save money because you can get so much more for your money than eating out. I'm not saying that things are automatically cheaper because you make them at home, but feeding a family of four with home cooked meals tends to me more economical than feeding that same family on take-out. Once you've mastered the art of eating in, there are many other super easy ways to save money in the kitchen.

Let them drink water
I can't get over how few people have water with their meals. Water is good for you, it is cheaper than just about any other beverage and your body needs it. Help your children develop a taste for water and save money along the way.
Choose appliances wisely
For years I fought my husband on getting a toaster oven. I figured we already had an oven. Well, heating up the oven for a slice of pizza or to make toast is a big waste of money. Using a toaster oven has saved us money and proved that sometimes my husband is right.
Use a slow cooker
Slow cookers save you money by letting you buy cheaper cuts of meat that will still taste delicious because you are cooking them longer and they also use less energy than an oven. Plus we have tons of Latin slow cooker recipes that we share on MamásLatinas.
Keep the oven door closed
Stop opening the oven door repeatedly to see if what you are cooking or baking is done. Use a timer to help you stop the urge to peek every few minutes. When you open that door heat escapes and thereby increases your energy costs.
Eat your leftovers
Don't just pack up your leftovers and put them in the fridge to rot. Make sure you eat them. Take them to work with you or send them to work with your partner. Have a leftovers dinner night. Just eat them or else you are wasting both their nutritional and monetary worth.
