2-year-old cancer patient gets hospital pizza party all thanks to total strangers

Hazel Hammersley, a 2-year-old cancer patient at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, recently got a delicious surprise. After her mother, Lauren, jokingly posted a sign to the window of the little girl's room that read "SEND PIZZA," someone spotted it, took a photo and posted it to Reddit–where users saw it and quickly granted the request!

On Saturday, the hospital had so many pizzas delivered that the family ended up having to politely call off the request and ask people to stop sending them! Is that amazing or what?!

According to a post on the hospital's website, Lauren said that the sign had been intended playfully, as a means to distract Hazel, who is currently undergoing chemo. It had actually been up for several days before it found its way online and ot the number one spot on the front page of Reddit. Eventually, they ended up receiving more than 20 boxes of pizz–more than enough to share with several nurses and other children on the same floor, as seen in the photo above. Though the mom said that the compassionate gesture made the young girl–as well as the other little kids–very happy, the hospital had to ask the pizza deliveries to be stopped due to the sheer number of boxes.

"We have been absolutely humbled and surprised by the outpouring of love and support from the online community and can only hope and pray that this brings awareness to Neuroblastoma and the Childhood Cancer Community," she wrote.

Doesn't this story just melt your heart? Seriously, it's so incredibly inspiring and spirit-lifting to see so many people–total strangers, for that matter!–go out of their way to try and make little Hazel's day. It just proves that there really are some truly kind and generous individuals out there who genuinely care about other's well-being. I'm glad that Hazel and some of the other kids in the hospital got to enjoy their pizza party and have a little fun in between their otherwise difficult treatment.

Though there might not be any more need for pizza, you can still help out Hazel and her family by donating to their fund for treatment.
