I never really know what to do with my hair during those hot, humid days of summer. The last thing I want is my hair all out and in my face, so I'm usually quick to opt for a basic everyday ponytail. But let's face it: Ponytails can get kind of boring. And sometimes a girl wants a look that's simple but still sleek and sophisticated.
That's why I fell in love with Aveda Global Director Antoinette Beenders' chic version. This low wrap around ponytail doesn't take much effort, but it still looks pretty and polished. This is definitely going to become my go-to summer hairstyle. Find out how to do it yourself at home with her super easy tips below!

Step 1

Begin by prepping your hair with a heat styling protective product, like Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair ($12) to keep strands protected from the heat. Then lay on a smoothing cream or serum to smooth hair and prevent humidity. Try Aussie Smoothing Serum ($5).
Step 2

This style works best on straight hair, but if you have curly or wavy hair, blow-dry it straight. Begin by sectioning it starting from the back. Then blow-dry straight using a large round brush.
Step 3

For sleeker results, use a flat iron to smooth the hair and ends. It’s also a great way to block out humidity and prevent frizz.
Step 4

Once is hair is dry, try pulling strands into a low pontail at the nape of the neck and then secure with an elastic. Make sure to leave out a narrow section of hair and wrap it around the band securing it with hair pins underneath the base of the tail.
Step 5

Section the tail and run through one last time with the flat iron to smooth out any final kinks or frizz.
Step 6

Finish off the look with strong but flexible hold hairspray. I like L'Oréal Elnett Extra StrongHold Hairspray ($13).
