5 Pictures that will make you smile in the face of tragedy (PHOTOS)

With all of the devastating tragedy we've seen occur this week, I think we can all use something to brighten our day. Luckily, I found the perfect remedy in a photo that is spreading like wildfire on the Internet today. It captures the incredibly sweet moment in which two toddlers who didn't even know each other stopped and hugged each other in middle of an airport! Yes, for no apparent reason.

A waitress who had a random conversation with a customer about how she'd love to have the opportunity to travel to Italy sometime (her family is from Florence) recently go the shock of a lifetime when she picked up the receipt and saw that he left an astounding tip: $1,000 plus the message"Your ticket to Italy" written beside the amount. WOW, talk about an amazingly kind gesture!

In case you haven't already reached cuteness overload, meet the lost Shih Tzu who took it upon herself to nurse a 5-week-old kitten, even though she was away from home herself. The pair was recently found and taken to a local shelter where the dog continues to care for her adopted offspring. They even share a cage, sleep and eat together! Say it with me: awww!

Marine Sgt. Ross Gundlach formed a close bond with Casey, a bomb-sniffing Labrador, while peforming more than 150 missions in Afghanistan. Casey never missed an explosive, detecting three before they could harm servicemen or civilians. When it was time to return home, Gundlach found Casey at her next assignment and begged to take her home. In order to grant his wish, officials secretly raised funds to replace Casey, and invited Gundlach to a surprise reunion with the dog who kept him safe. Seriously, are you crying happy tears yet? 'Cause I am.
