12 Days of Christmas recipes: Ponche de frutas to warm you up! (VIDEO RECIPE)

It's really cold today in New York City, where I live, to the point that I find myself drinking a hot beverage every few hours in order to keep warm. There's a little argument about where this Christmas classic actually comes from (Guatemala? Mexico?) but, no matter which side of the battle you're on, it's one delicious drink that I just can't resist this time of year. I mean, who doesn't love a little sweetness to warm up your belly?

The thing I really love about this recipe, in the video below, is that you can play around with it and adjust it according to your family's tastes. Personally, I always add extra cinnamon, pineapple, and oranges. That's just what my family and I love. However, you don't necessarily have to have these same ingredients! It's a basic fruit punch and I think it tastes even better when you adjust it and play around with ingredients. Does your family go crazy for apples? Throw those in! Are you just die-hard banana fans? Then add some dried bananas. The flavors of this Christmas ponche should reflect what you and your loved ones love. After all, sharing it will be one of the most special times during these 12 days of Christmas.
