Okay, can somebody please tell me what exactly is going on that's driving more and more girls to dress up to look like dolls? The trend seems to be spreading like wildfire, particularly in the Ukraine where three more Barbie-looking girls have joined the ranks of OMG-this-is-freaking-me-out. In fact, one girl is even dressing up like an anime character (those Japanese cartoons), complete with big, huge eyes and fake-looking colored hair.

Anime, a.k.a. 19-year-old Anastasiya Shpagina, takes up at 5 a.m. every single day to complete her ensemble, which includes never leaving the house without makeup and walking down the street in "a fairy-like outfit, with long purplish hair, looking at the world with her raccoon-like eyes", according to Forbes.com. However, she hasn't gone so far as to alter her appearance with plastic surgery–yet.
Meanwhile, Barbie (Valerila Lukyanova) and her friend Dominika (Olga Oleynik) have both had breast augmentation and "accentuate their 'Barbiness' with long hair, giant eyes, contact lenses, small mouths, tiny waists, curvy hips, full busts, and slightly manipulative unemotional manners."

Honestly, all of this just freaks me out even more. I don't understand where this "Barbie doll syndrome", in which young girls try to attain impossible standards of beauty, came from. I can understand girls wanting bigger boobs or to wear pretty makeup, but actually dressing up like a doll? It's just freaky, weird and SO wrong.
