Trying to get pregnant and having some trouble? Well, the answer may be in the nuts. Walnuts, that is!
A new study has determined that men who eat about two handfuls of walnuts a day can actually see an increase in sperm shape, movement and vitality if they added the nut to their diet over 12 weeks.
I've always been a big fan of walnuts. In fact, they were probably the first nuts that I ever really ate as a kid (my abuelito was a big fan, too, which explains a lot). So is a healthier snack habit what it's going to take for some couples to improve their chances of procreating?

With about one in six couples being infertile and 40% of these cases being because of the men, it's incredible to think that something can be fixed simply with the man's diet. The study, which was published in the journal Biology of Reproduction, did determine a "significant improvement in sperm parameters in the group that consumed the walnuts", said lead author Prof. Wendie Robbins from UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health.
Sure it may sound silly to just have your man eat more nuts, but Dr. Allan Pacey, a senior lecturer in andrology at the University of Sheffield explained:
It would be relatively easy to poke fun at studies like this, but there is increasing evidence to show that aspects of a man's diet can affect the number and quality of sperm produced by his testicles.

So what's a girl to do? Well, eat healthier myself and make sure that my man's doing the same thing! With diet affecting so much in our bodies, I'm not necessarily surprised that the fatty acids in the walnuts may be helping sperm development. I may not be a guy, but I'll definitely be having some more of this healthy nut, too.
