Want to know the easy secret to losing 6 pounds?

Okay, be honest here: do you want to lose a little weight? Maybe you honestly don't, but I know I sure do! Despite my 100 pound weight loss and keeping (most) of the weight off for the past few years, I'm still one of those people that kind of obsessed about those last few pounds. Usually this happens around the holidays (mami's Christmas meals are pretty serious, guys) and in the summer (when BBQs and summer parties and unhealthy eating rule my weekends).

Luckily for me, though, a new study has come out to reveal what is pretty much the easiest way to lose weight.

All you REALLY have to do to lose those last six pounds is, well, keep a journal! I know you've probably heard this same song and dance before, but a new study has just discovered the benefits of overweight, inactive women writing down what they eat. Conducted by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, the study found that "women who kept food journals and consistently wrote down the foods they ate lost about six pounds more than women who didn't."

Seriously, is THAT all it takes? Well, at least that's what the science seems to say!

So what are some tips for creating that food journal? First of all, write it down while you're eating it (or shortly after) instead of at the end of the day because you're bound to forget something. Second, take note of how good you feel and how hungry you are before and after eating a particular food. Last but not least, BE HONEST! The point of the study is that the simple act of writing it all down helped women lose weight—so just don't lie to yourself. And, hey, then maybe we'll all lose a few of those extra pounds.
