Why you must feed your baby this Latino superfood

Raise your hand if you’re one of the many moms who swore she would never, ever, feed her baby jarred food but has, in fact, done just that “a time or two”! Most of us would raise both hands admitting to the truth that, with so much running around every day, sometimes it’s easier if we find the quickest way to feed the baby. To reach for prepared foods can be so much more practical than starting a meal from scratch!

Especially when the day has been a long one, we get home and are quick to say: “Ugh! Who wants to start cooking and mashing now?” You’d rather be playing with your baby than stuck in the kitchen. Any shortcuts are much appreciated so here is a little secret: an ingredient that all Latinas always have on hand, but that doctors don't tell you about, is the fastest and healthiest baby food around. I’m talking about avocado.

That’s right! Avocados are fabulous baby food when they start solids. It's soft consistency is perfect for our toothless toddlers and they are rich in vitamins and minerals and high in Iron. Mashed or cut in little squares, they are an excellent first food but also can be added to a soup or spread on a piece of bread or tortilla. Use it creatively as an ingredient or side dish in a meal, and it’ll surely become a favorite for your baby.

Did you feed your little one avocado?
