NBC news reporter gets interrupted by her son on live TV & it’s so cute

Working moms do not have it easy. When it comes to balancing work and motherhood, there are always plenty of challenges that moms face. Courtney Kube, an NBC News correspondent covering national security and the Pentagon, was live on MSNBC reporting on Turkey unleashing airstrikes against Kurds in Syria when she got the surprise of a lifetime.

Halfway through her report, she was shocked to see her son appearing on the screen next to her. She continued to deliver the news until her son asked to be carried. "Excuse me, my kids are here. Live television!" she said with a smile on her face. The moment was TV gold and absolutely adorable, so you have to see it for yourself.

MSNBC shared a clip of the moment on social media.

Luckily for this mom, her employer found humor and cuteness in the moment she shared with her son during the broadcast. "Sometimes unexpected breaking news happens while you're reporting breaking news. #MSNBCMoms #workingmoms," MSNBC captioned the video on Instagram on Wednesday, October 9.

People seemed to truly enjoy the clip.

The news outlet's Twitter followers responded positively to the clip, giving props to the network as well as the reporter. One person highlighted that it sends a good message. This incident shows that a mom can be successful and hardworking, without having to choose between the two. Another tweeted, "I think it’s fantastic that she’s allowed to have her kids around while working. Good on you MSNBC."

She received praise from her colleagues.

According to one of her co-workers, this isn't the first time she balanced work and mom life. He shared an anecdote of a time she carried a breast pump with her while covering news. She responded: "Thanks @ExumAM! I’m sure your kids already know what an amazing man and daddy you are!"

Some pointed out how calm and poised she remained during the minor interruption.

Courtney remained calm and continued delivering the news. She also gave big smile when she saw her son, but she didn't skip a beat while covering the story. This is some great professionalism, while also knowing to remain calm when dealing with a child in a situation like this. Kudos to you, mom!

This isn't the first time a little one stole camera time away from a parent.

Professor Robert Kelly was being interviewed live on BBC News about South Korea in 2017. Robert was in his home office and doing a video call, when his little one barged in halfway through the interview. His panicked wife later arrived to pull both of their kids out of the room, but not before the video went completely viral. The thing about parenting is that you can never be totally prepared for what's going to happen, but the trick is to handle it all with grace.
