The couple announced the baby's birth with a sweet post on their official Instagram account Sussex Royal, and it's the cutest thing! Buckingham Palace was first to announce that the duchess went into labor early Monday morning, just hours before the baby's arrival was announced. No news on the baby's name just yet, as it is customary to reveal the moniker a few days after the child's birth.
The pair are "overjoyed" to share the news of their baby boy's arrival.
The caption of their announcement read:
"We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.
"The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.
"More details will be shared in the forthcoming days."
Buckingham Palace confirmed she was in labor early Monday.
The palace sent out a statement to announce that Meghan had gone into labor in the early hours of Monday. "The Duke of Sussex was by her Royal Highnesses' side," the statement also said. Some believed that the baby had already arrived due to the past tense language used in the statement.
The couple have been patiently awaiting the baby's arrival.
In preparation for their child's arrival, the couple revealed their birth plans, saying they would be celebrating the baby's arrival as a family in private, and no photo shoot would take place outside of the hospital hours after the baby's birth. The couple also moved into their new home at Frogmore Cottage recently, where they will be living with their new bundle of joy. Speculation has been circulating for weeks in regard to when the baby's due date would be, with people estimating when she would give birth.
They announced that they were expecting in November.
The pair tied the knot in May 2018 and announced in November of that year that they were expecting their first child together. We wish the royal couple and their growing family a lifetime of love and happiness.
