Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are molding their oldest daughter, North, into a mini trendsetter. The 5-year-old has family members heavily connected in the fashion industry and access to the latest designer clothes, so she is naturally always dressed to impress. Her style is adorable and eclectic but unfortunately is not always accepted with open arms. Her young age hasn't made her exempt from judgement and harsh criticism.

Kim posted a photo of North in a tiny bikini top on Instagram on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, and a hoard of her followers saw red. They dragged Kim over making an inappropriate choice for a little girl. However, everyone didn't agree that the bikini was too grown for North and her supportive fans brought up interesting counter arguments.
Kim posted a picture of her admiring North who was wear a small yellow triangle bikini top.
It was no big deal to some people but others used it as an opportunity to school Kim on what is appropriate swim attire for a child.
Countless people came out against the bikini.
The commenters did everything from accuse Kim of wanting to turn North into a small version of Kim, to bring up the threat of the picture attracting unwanted attention from perverts on the internet.
But there is always a group of people ready to defend Kim and they called out the obvious hypocrisy of the people who flamed her over North's bikini.
Parents dress their little girls in two-pieces everyday and aren't judged nearly as harshly as Kim, if at all. These types of bikinis are sold in children's stores and it isn't an issue.
The strongest clap back at Kim's critics was that anyone who had an issue with the bikini was because they were objectifying North themselves.
People should be more concerned with ending rape culture and the idea that certain items of clothing will bring a young girl unwanted sexual attention and risks. It is sexist and society should spend more time addressing aggressors and their underlying issues. Children shouldn't be looked at as sexual objects, period!
There is no doubt that Kim is a controversial figure that pushes boundaries with her personal fashion choices.
But to suggest that she is dressing North in a bikini to "start her off young" in a sexual way is ignorant and dangerous.
There are undoubtedly gross sexual predators all over the internet and it is up to each parent to decide how they will deal with that.
If you don't want to put your child in a bikini don't do it. But let's not ignore the bigger issues in our society and stop narratives that paint women as victims and make them solely responsible for unwanted attention.
