Latino stars who don’t want their kids to become celebrities too soon

Some celebrity parents seem more than excited to transform their kids into stars, going as far as creating their own Instagram accounts, appearing on the red carpet, and even signing them up for minor roles on the screen. Other celebs, however, are doing the exact opposite and go out of their way to protect their children from stardom.

Such is the case of Latino stars like Jennifer Lopez, Paulina Rubio, Gaby Espino and Aracely Arámbula, among others. They have admitted to trying to shield them from the perils of living a very public life.

It must be hard to balance the natural desire to post photos of your kids on social media, supporting them in pursuing a passion in entertainment and the need to protect them.

Here are some parents who are doing everything possible to prevent their children from becoming celebs too soon.

Jennifer Lopez doesn't want Max and Emme to become child stars.

"I don’t want them to be in the business at a young age. I just don’t think they need that burden, that pressure. They should have a normal life — go to school, play, grow up," she told WWD. "If they want to go off and be artists or singers or dancers or pilots or architects or anything — then they have my full support."

Aracely Arambula posted a video of her elder son singing.

It was a big deal because Luis Miguel is the father of both of her two sons,  Miguel and Daniel. However, they are generally shielded from the public.

Paulina Rubio has admitted that her kids love to sing and perform.

She went as far as acknowledging that they have artistic talent. However, she added "they are too young. They could also be biologists or architects."

Both of Gaby Espino's kids have famous dads.

Oriana's dad is Venezuelan telenovela star Cristobal Lander and little Niko's dad is Cuban-American actor and singer Jencarlos Canela. All of them agree on preserving Oriana and Cristobal's privacy at all costs.

Sebastián Rulli and Cecilia Galliano couldn't agree on anything during their divorce proceedings.

But they both agree on protecting their son, Santiago, from the pressures of showbiz. They don't even allow him on social media just yet.

According to Dayanara Torres, her kids with Marc Anthony have some serious musical talent.

They sing and play instruments, but neither she or Marc Anthony think they are ready to take it to the public.

However, he is against the boys pursuing showbiz for now. Let's not forget he knows how tough life as a child entertainer is: he joined Menudo when he was 11.

Juanes' youngest son Dante is a great singer.

But according to the Colombian singer, Dante is shy and far from ready for the public. "He has to grow up a little more," he told MamásLatinas.

Thalía rarely takes her kids to her shows.

Her plan is not to push them towards showbiz. "They have the genes, but I want them to live their life," said the singer.

Itatí Cantoral and Eduardo Santamarina forbade their twins to do anything on TV until they became teens.

The twins, Eduardo and Roberto, are now 18 years old and pursuing acting. They debuted in the Telemundo series about singer José José and did great.

Alejandro Fernández discouraged his kids from following in his footsteps.

So far the only one of his five children who is an aspiring singer is Camila.

Lili Estefan has had her kids out of the limelight for most of their lives.

She made her daughter, Lina, wait until she turned 15 to pursue a career in modeling and won't let her do more than that until she finishes high school.
