Kim Kardashian has been pretty public about her fertility issues and desire to expand her family. The reality television star and husband Kanye West have reportedly hired a surrogate to carry their third child. The couple are parents to 4-year-old North and 1-year-old Saint. What details do we know so far about her upcoming pregnancy and will her surrogate be someone we know?

On KUWTK, Kim was very open about wanting to have more children, but not being able to carry them herself. For her first pregnancy, she suffered with preeclampsia, which affects blood pressure and could lead to complications for the mom and fetus. In her second pregnancy, she was also diagnosed with placenta accreta, a condition where the placenta grows into the womb's wall.
In a previous episode of their show, Kim confirmed that she was unable to carry her own baby a third time around. "The doctors definitely say it's too dangerous for me to carry," she said. Khloe considered being a surrogate for her sister, but ultimately decided that the journey wasn't really for her. Can you blame her? She's still hoping to start her own family some day.
I'm sure using a surrogate was a decision that Kim battled with for a while, but ultimately she's getting to expand her family–that's all that matters. It's great that she's being open about this journey so others are more accepting about the many ways to grow families outside of the traditional form.
