Kim Kardashian promotes potentially dangerous morning sickness pill–again

Kim Kardashian may need to take another social media break. The mom-of-two recently repromoted Diclegis, a prescription pill that relieves morning sickness for pregnant women. The drug, which is FDA approved, comes with its own set of controversies–and they're way more serious than a hefty serving of 'KUWTK' drama.

Back in 2015, Kim was under fire by the FDA for promoting the same pill. Their reasoning was that she failed to warn users of the potential risks and side effects associated with the drug. Instead, she wrote that the pill had "no increased risk to the baby." Kim ended up taking down that original post and releasing an statement apologizing for the misleading information.

It doesn't seem like Kim did all of her research. The pill contains two main ingredients vitamin B6 and doxylamine. Several studies have been made that confirm that the product is safe to use while pregnant. However, in the 1980s the same pill, then marketed by a different name, was pulled from the market for causing birth defects. The drug company removed a third ingredient associated with the issue and repackaged and marketed the drug now known as Diclegis.

With any pill you take while pregnant, there are risk factors involved. If I were Kim, I wouldn't even get involved with this type of ad. Cashing a check while promoting pills that may cause damage to other pregnant women just seems wrong. Even if she actually did use the pill and suffered no side effects, her promoting the product could put other women and their unborn children at risk. And honestly, does she even need the money?

Kim's post promoting the pill does clearly state it's an ad. In part, she wrote,

If you still feel sick, don't wait-ask your doctor about #Diclegis (doxylamine succinate & pyridoxine HCl), the only FDA-approved medication for morning sickness. It's the most studied drug in pregnancy & it worked for me! I want to empower all moms-to-be and encourage them to speak up. #DontSufferInSilence! The most common side effect is drowsiness.

The rest of her post reads like a drug commercial. She listed all of the side effects and encouraged followers to talk to their doctor first. To me, this post needs to be shut down just as fast as her sister Kendall Jenner's Pepsi ad. Girl, bye.
