Caul births are rare, but the latest viral video to hit the internet shows just how amazing being born in "en-caul" actually is. Babies born with the amniotic sac attached occurs in fewer than 1 in 80,000 births, according to Baby Med. The latest video is truly breathtaking, and yes, a little scary too. The video, which was shared on the Birth Without Fear Facebook page, showcases a baby arriving in the caul via a C-section. You slowly see the sac slip out while the baby is crying. The caul is harmless to the baby but doctors have to be very careful about removing because it can stick to a baby's skin and cause wounds.
Eventually the sac is popped by the medical staff and you see the placenta slip out. There's no way you can't be impressed by this!
The baby is fresh out of the womb and we all got to be a part of the journey.
