Couple Sarah and Chris Saunders elected the new procedure to welcome their son Leo to the world. Cameras shot the emotional moment at the Torbay Hospital's maternity ward in the UK. You get to see the newborn wiggle his way out of his mother's womb. I couldn't help but tear up when I saw this video.
In October 2015, I delivered my son via c-section. I had a blue curtain covering half of my body, which was nervewrecking and weird. I was able to hear my surroundings and felt some pressure, but was limited to staring at my poor husband's nervous face.
Once my son was born, we didn't have immediate skin-to-skin contact. The natural cesarean procedure would allow the mom-to-be to witness the birth and bond with the baby with the umbilical cord still attached.
Hopefully this type of procedure becomes more common in the U.S. It's time to give moms the option to have a beautiful birth without all of the traditional stressful restrictions.
