Women's Health

As the March 2016 Women's Health cover girl, Aguilera shared her uncensored thoughts on the pressure women have to be sexy, lose weight and be the perfect mother all at once. She explained, "Having children is the ultimate joy, and I love my kids, but women have to find time to nurture themselves. If someone has a baby, the first thing I’m like is, ‘Okay, are you taking care of you?’”

In 2015, Xtina spoke to People about how her life had changed after welcoming her daughter Summer Rain. “It’s definitely not easy juggling work and motherhood, as being a parent is a full-time job within itself. You just have to make it work for you," she said.

Before Aguilera became engaged to Matt Rutler in 2014, she spent several years as a single mom. "My focus first and foremost is my son Max," she told Ellen DeGeneres in 2010. "More power to single moms and those out there doing it. I was raised by a single mom. But you know what, at the end of the day….He's the love of my life," she added.

The Latina singer doesn't pretend to love working out. She told Access Hollywood in 2010, "No one hates working out more than me. I hate it with a passion, but I do it because in the end, it makes you feel better."

Aguilera isn't immune to having her breakdown moments! She also told Today.com, "We all have breaking points and it's hard sometimes to find patience and to find the energy when we're exhausted." Can we get an Amen?

Aguilera's routine as a working mom is pretty similar to ours in a lot of ways. In 2015, she told E!, "I love being at home and cuddling with them in my sweatpants. I learn so much from them, and every day is a new and fun adventure. I couldn't be more lucky to have Max and Summer, they are the lights of my life."

On bouncing back

During a radio interview in 2010, Xtina admitted that bouncing back and feeling normal again takes time (for real!). “When you have a baby, you go through a period where your body is just not your own… Once you bounce back from that and kind of get your body back, I feel better than ever," she said.

On what she wants for her kids

In November 2015, Aguilera opened up about wanting more for her children. She told Today.com, "Now, I'm a mother of a 7-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter and it's very important to me to provide them with an environment to feel safe and loved. I want to give my children the gift of loving music without having to use it as an escape, like I had to," she said.

On hating germs

Aguilera is super strict about making sure everyone in her house has clean hands. We can definitely relate. She told Extra! in 2015, "The only thing [is that] I'm like, 'Wash your hands before you touch the baby' — you don't want the germs," she said.

On setting a good example

Aguilera admitted to Today.com that she hates having little arguments in front of her children. She revealed, “We should always be the example of peace and tranquility and safety, which I didn’t have growing up as a child, so that’s first and foremost.”
