The 20 top baby names of 2014 are…

It's that marvelous time of the year when enough information has been gathered to come out with a list of the most popular baby names of 2014. The list is in, the list is in and of course I can't wait to share the top nombres on it with you!

This list was compiled by BabyCenter using the more than 400,000 babies born this year whose parents registered on their website. The super official list that gets put out by the Social Security Administration doesn't come out until spring of next year, but in the meantime this list is a great one to check.

Check this out: the top three names for girls on the list haven't changed for the last three years. That means that we have a whole lot of Sophias, Emmas and Olivias out there. I totally get it though because those names are super cute, have lasting power and might I point out they are perfect for those of us who like to choose names that can be pronounced in both English and Spanish. In fact, the name Sophia is so popular that Linda Murray, BabyCenter Global Editor-in-Chief, says "Sophia is arguably the Jennifer of its generation with five consecutive number one spots. It's clearly entered the baby name hall of fame." Entre nos, Sophia was on the top of our baby names list both times, we didn't end up going with it, but we still love it.

Oh and guess what? On the boys' list the top three names are the same as last year. I'm not surprised, they are good solid names with staying power.
