Most women have nine months to prepare for impending motherhood. But not Gemma Armstrong. The 19-year-old Scot got the surprise of a lifetime when she gave birth on the bathroom floor of her boyfriend's mother's home–despite having no idea she was pregnant. Wow! That's pretty, well, unbelievable. How can anyone could go nine whole months without knowing they're pregnant. C'mon!

They say every woman experiences pregnancy differently. Some women suffer with intense morning sickness throughout their pregnancy, and others don't. Some women rock tiny little basketball sized bellies while others swell up from head to toe. But for the most part, pregnant women have at least one thing in common: They usually know that they are in the process of growing another human being inside of their bodies! How could you not? Well, according to Armstrong, she says she never really experienced any of the usual tell-tale signs of pregnancy–not even the biggest of them all: a baby bump. "I had no idea," she explains. "I had no big bump. I was in a bikini on the beach in Malta a month ago." Well, bump or no bump, it turns out Gemma was in fact pregnant, and she was about to find out in the most epic way imaginable.
A few weeks ago, Gemma Armstrong rushed home suffering from what she thought was an especially rough bout of nausea. "I made Sunday dinner the night before and was up all night with sickness and thought I had given myself food poisoning." Well, as it turned out, the 19-year-old wasn't dealing with a spoiled food baby at all; she was in labor. With a real baby. And it was coming out whether she was ready or not. Making matters worse (or is it better?), Gemma was so far into labor when she realized what was happening, she had to have her partner's mother and sister deliver her baby on the bathroom floor.
Gemma describes her dramatic two-hour labor as a "real family effort." When the ladies realized Gemma was in labor, they called her novio who'd been working in Malta at the time and told him to come back home. Then they got down to business. Gemma's partner's mother acted as her midwife until the paramedics arrived, and his sister was on hand to cut the baby's umbilical cord. Little Orla Degan made her dramatic entrance into the world on November 19,2014, weighing in at 7 lbs, 9 oz.
Needless to say, Orla is pretty much a miracle baby! Not only did her mom not have any prenatal care, but she'd apparently gotten on several theme park rides just two months before giving birth. Yeah, I don't know if you know this, but roller coasters are a big ol' no-no for mamis-to-be; they can cause miscarriage or birth defects. But lucky for Gemma and Co., both mom and baby are said to be doing just fine. And though Gemma was completely unprepared to become a mother, she says her surprise pregnancy was the best thing that ever happened to her. Soon after giving birth, Gemma described her daughter's birth as the "best and most surprising case of food poisoning in the world. Not the toilet trip I expected."
