Jenelle Evansis pretty much the poster child for momma drama, it really isn't all that surprising that the Teen Mom 2 star is making headlines, yet again, this time for allegedly smoking like a chimney while still nursing her 3-month-old son, Kaiser.
Jenelle has made a big show of trying to turn over a new leaf, however it appears like some of her habits are harder to kick than others. The MTV star ruffled more than a few feathers this week when she tweeted a pic of her boyfriend and Kaiser's dad, Nathan Griffith, snoozing on an armchair, with a pack of cigarettes in full view. Fans were quick to point out just how dangerous second-hand smoke is for Jenelle's two young children, to which Jenelle later responded: "I'm outside right now smoking a cig lol."

However, Jenelle's fans don't seem to see what there is to lol about. The fact that Jenelle smokes outside, and not inside of her home, did little to help her fans keep calm and carry on. Many of them blasted the notorious wild child for smoking at all while breastfeeding her youngest son. "It's absolutely hilarious that a breast feeding, cosleeping mom is smoking. WHAT IS YOUR MALFUNCTION????," one fan tweeted. Another called her a hypocrite for caring more about adopting a carb-free diet than adopting a cigarette-free lifestyle.
And, still others were on Jenelle's side, telling everyone to just mind their own beeswax. I don't know, it's kind of hard to mind one's business when you know that someone is doing something that can potentially harm their child. It's especially difficult to keep your mouth shut when the very same person has made such a big show of trying to become a better parent. You just want to help them see the error in their ways!
That being said, blasting someone online for their parenting practices isn't helpful. Perhaps rather than tearing her down for smoking, we should be telling her that she can smoke outside all she wants, but her son will still get his nicotine fix whenever he breastfeeds. Perhaps we should tell her that children exposed to nicotine have a harder time sleeping and tend to have behavioral problems. Perhaps we should tell her that cigarettes may decrease her milk supply, which will in turn affect baby Kai's growth. Not a lot of breastfeeding moms know that. In fact, not a lot people know just how many of their daily habits can have a negative effect on their children's health. There are a lot, and many of them may surprise you!

Alcohol
You may want to pump and dump if you've had a more than a couple drinks. Babies exposed to alcohol in breastmilk may experience developmental issues in the long-term, and fussiness and sleeplessness in the short term. Not worth it.
St. John's Wort
Some moms use St. John's Wort to help with post-partum depression, however the natural herb may actually do more harm than good. The natural remedy may cause your baby to become drowsy or listless, which is actually quite scary. Speak to your doctor about alternatives.
Cafe
Caffeine may actually cause you more sleepless nights. That’s because babies exposed to caffeine have a higher likelihood of becoming moody and sleepless. Go figure.
Herbal tea
Yup, even tea may be bad for your baby. Teas containing certain herbs such as fennel, comfrey leaf, fenugreek are no bueno for breastfeeding moms. Babies exposed to these herbs may experience loose stools, fussiness, and even a drop in blood sugar.
Chocolate
Noooo, not chocolate! Chocolate, like coffee, has caffeine in it, which may cause your baby to become cranky, and experience sleeplessness. Ugh!
Broccoli
This isn't actually the biggest deal in the world, but it's worth noting: foods that make you gassy may make your baby feel gassy, too. Spare your baby the tummy troubles and go for veggies that won't cause you two to toot as much.
Citrus
Compounds found in many citrus fruits may potentially irritate your baby's still developing GI tract, which may in turn lead to fussiness and diaper rash.
Spicy
Sorry, but you may have to pass on the hot sauce until you're no longer breastfeeding. Babies exposed to spicy food tend to be fussy and irritable. Or as I like to say, hot blooded!
Garlic
Believe it or not, that garlicky taste you love so much makes your breast milk taste gross! Babies tend to pass on breast milk after their mami's have had a few too many pieces of garlic bread.
Wheat
Is nothing sacred? If your baby has a wheat allergy, you may have to go wheat-free until you've weaned them off. Si no, your baby may experience some pretty scary side effects, such as bloody stools and excruciating pain.
