Ninel Conde wants her baby born in the U.S., NOT Mexico

Ninel Conde just can't seem to cut a break! The pregnant 43-year-old star has been criticized for her partner Giovanni Medina's criminal past, accused of aborting her baby and even blamed for having her baby bump photoshopped on her recent TVyNovelas cover. Now, Conde is stirring up controversy for reportedly deciding to give birth to her son in the U.S. instead of her native Mexico. Some fans believe that she is shunning her roots, but should she really be criticized for the decision?

According to Univision, the Mexican actress has been researching maternity clinics in Miami and Los Angeles. Although her prenatal doctor is reportedly from Mexico, the Bombón Asesino wants to make sure her baby boy, who she is naming Emmanuel, is born a U.S. citizen. She reportedly came to that conclusion because she primarily works in the U.S. and so she really considers it her second home.

Honestly, the only crazy part about this story is that people are actually criticizing her for wanting to give birth in the U.S. The comments from Spanish-language fans are expecially harsh with one person claiming she just wants to give birth in the U.S. for "bragging rights."

I think Conde has every right as a mother to decide what is best for her and her unborn baby. She is the one carrying the baby for nine months and pushing that sucker out, no?

Also, if the baby is born here it doesn't mean that he will grow up feeling any less Mexican. Since when has your cultural identity been limited to the country you were born in? I was born in the U.S. to Cuban and Argentinean parents and I fully embrace my bicultural roots. I'm sure baby Emmanuel will feel the same way.

People need to get a grip and realize that things aren't always black or white and this is a gray area for sure. It's time to leave poor Ninel alone and let her enjoy this beautiful time in her life. Punto.
