When New Zealand woman Rebecca Oldham went to the hospital back in November with stomach cramps, doctors ran multiple tests before eventually deciding to remove her ovaries, thinking they were the cause of the pain. But when she went into the surgery, she and her medics got the surprise of a lifetime: Rebecca was actually 32 weeks pregnant and instead of removing her ovaries, they were actually going to have to perform an emergency C-section. Oh my gosh! Can you imagine? Talk about a CRAZY twist.

Oldham, who already had a 20-month-old daughter at the time of the surprise birth, said she and her husband couldn't have been more shocked. "I was facing not being able to have any more children because they thought there were problems with my ovaries and all of a sudden we had a son," the mom told the New Zealand Herald.
So how exactly did a pregnancy manage to slide past both the mom and a bunch of medical professionals? The craziest part is, it's still a total mystery! While there have been plenty of cases in which women don't realize they're expecting, it's usually because they don't go to the doctors until they are going into labor. But Oldham underwent multiple tests previously and doctors have reportedly been left baffled as to how the pregnancy didn't show up in any of the rest results. So baffled, in fact, that the hospital has launched an investigation into her case.
The mom is hoping to receive findings from the investigation soon in order to get some answers. "I am so glad they woke me and told me I was going to have another baby," she said. "Even though it was short notice it was better than waking up and being handed a baby." Ha, I bet!
What a crazy story! Something weird has to have been going on in that hospital though, as there's no way that all of those tests wouldn't have shown she was pregnant. I mean, RIGHT? I hope they get to the bottom of it soon. But in the meantime, what matters most is that both mom and baby are healthy, despite the chaotic birth. Congrats to the family!
