20 Baby names inspired by famous Latinos

When it comes to naming a baby, you can take inspiration from just about anywhere nowadays. You can look to family names, Biblical names, telenovela names, colors, adjectives, whatevs. I think there are many famous Latinos who have great names that could be given to brand spankin' new human beings, don't you?

I've put together a list of twenty baby names inspired by some very famous Latinos.

Para las niñas:

1. Celia: You probably don't need me to tell you that the famous Latina I'm thinking of behind this name is the one and only Celia Cruz.
2. Charytín: No explantion needed, I know you know who I'm talkin' about and if you don't, where have you been for the past few decades?!
3. Frida: I've never met anyone named after Frida Kahlo, I think it would be a great first or middle name for a little girl.
4. Isabel: One of my very favorite authors is Isabel Allende. I love the name and it sound super cute when shortened to Isa.
5. Lucia: Here I'm thinking of the telenovela super star, Lucía Mendez.
6. Paulina: You don't have to be a fan of Paulina Rubio to appreciate the name.
7. Penélope: La Cruz has made this name quite famous.
8. Selena: Quintanillo or Gomez, both lovely examples.
9. Shakira: No last name needed to identify the celebrity behind this name.
10. Veronica: How many hours did I spend watching Veronica Castro when I was growing up. Quién sabe, but it was a lot.

1. Andres: Andrés Garcia was kind of a big deal in my home growing up. Let's just say that my mother has always found him swoon-worthy guapo.
2. Antonio: It's a nice name whether you are into Banderas or not.
3. Cesar: Shout out to Chavez!
4. Diego: Oh my gosh, there are so many famous Diegos, take your pick: Luna, Maradona, Rivera and Dora's primo.
5. Federico: This name belongs to one of my favorite playwrites, García Lorca.
6. Gabriel: My heart still aches at the recent death of one of the most brilliant writers EVER, García Marquez.
7. Gael: What can I say, I'm quite the fan of García Bernal?
8. Ricardo: When I was growing up Ricardo Montalbán was one of the only kick-ass Latinos that I got to see on English-speaking TV. I thought he was so classy.
9. Vicente: The voice of Vicente Fernández can bring me to tears. He is incomparable.
10. Xavier: Mambo King like no other, Cugat made music that will never die.
