5 Ways to deal with sleep deprivation when you’re a new mom

I've been a new mom for just six weeks and I have to admit: I'm already a little sleep deprived! As much as I love my little Toñito (and trust me, I love him SO much!), I've been feeling a little overwhelmed as I'm juggling my new responsibilities as a mami with my career and work around the house.

I know this is totally normal and we all go through it, but it's also been 21 years(!) since the last time I was mom to a baby, so I reached out to my support system (my family) for some advice on how I could better balance it all. I'm also a total girl's girl, so I reached out to my girlfriends who gave me some great advice on how to juggle everything (and more importantly, relax!).

In this week's blog, I'd like to share the advice I got from my family and friends with you (my MamasLatinas family) because it totally helped me and maybe it can help other mamas out there, too!).

Check out the great advice below and tweet me your thoughts, questions or comments. I love hearing from you!

"Remember Paula that most babies have a fussy hour. You just have to wait it out!" She also told me: "A mother has to teach and then retreat."  LOVE that!

My sister Vanessa gave me this spot-on consejo: "The best advice I can give is give lots of love, listen and don't criticize. You want to raise a confident man."

"You think you have a schedule, but it will change every two to three months. Also, hold your child constantly to make him feel secure," she told me.

"Try to give him a bath at 11 p.m., then feed him. He should sleep at least four to five hours after that," she said. Well, at first this didn't work on Toñito, but now it does! I swear by this advice!

"There are so many books on how to be a parent. Just follow your instinct and you'll do fine," she told me. "You have a connection with your son and no one knows him better than you do. "
